To schedule a personal follow-up interview held the following day, students must attend the presentation and schedule an appointment with the company representative. 2013 Construction industry research conference (CIRC)

The 2013 CIRC was held on Friday, April 19th, 2013 at the Pacific NW Center for Construction Research and Education. Seventy participants, representing faculty and industry practitioners from around the state, came together to learn about and discuss what happens when the real and the virtual, the theoretical and the practical collide!

This 6-hour workshop was designed for individuals and teams that wanted to gain a better understanding of Lean Construction and how Lean could be implemented in a construction context.

1st annual CIRC - construction industry research conference

CIRC 2011

This inaugural conference presented the varied and extensive construction research accomplishments of the faculty and students of the University of Washington Department of Construction Management and College of Built Environments. It also showcased the work of guests from Central Washington University and the UW's Department of Communication.

The Construction Industry Research Conference (CIRC) was hosted by the Pacific Northwest Center for Construction Research and Education.  CIRC’s mission is to highlight the ways that industry can benefit from academic-industry research partnerships as well as present research findings on a variety of relevant topics.  2011's research highlighted research on BIM, safety, lean construction, ergonomics, education, and communication.

An Open House to celebrate the grand opening of the Pacific Northwest Center for Construction Research and Education (Sand Point) and thank the donors who made it possible will be held the evening of Nov. 20. Local industry donors have donated more than $2 million to pay for renovation of the old naval base building into a 25,000-square-foot research facility that provides a home for research into virtual construction, methods and materials, and construction education for the CM Department and its partners, the Human Interface Technology Laboratory, the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences, and the College of Education. CM Department to say goodbye to Associate Professor Steve Goldblatt

The Construction Management Department will celebrate 28 years of excellence in teaching and leadership by Associate Professor Steve Goldblatt, JD, at a retirement party on January 22, 2010. The party will be held at the Pacific Northwest Center for Construction Research and Education (Sand Point) from 5-7pm. RSVP to teritay@uw.edu.

Goldblatt came to UW in 1982, where he taught design and construction law as well as construction labor law and policy in the CM Department. He also held adjunct appointments in the departments of Architecture and Civil and Environmental Engineering.

A prolific author, Goldblatt edited the 1991 Wiley Construction Law Update and served as president of the Associated Schools of Construction (1989-90) after six years as founding editor of ASC’s Construction Education Chronicle. The former CM department chair (1982-91) and CBE associate dean for external affairs (2002-04) served as advisor to the University’s Executive Vice President and Attorney General’s Division. Goldblatt was also active in the Faculty Senate for his entire career, chairing and serving on various committees. He mediated and arbitrated many Northwest construction disputes and served on many dispute review boards in Washington state. Goldblatt holds a BSEE degree from the University of California, Berkeley (1971), and a JD degree from Golden Gate University School of Law, San Francisco (1977).
